I am a London-based Counselling Psychologist and trauma specialist, chartered with and Associate Fellow of the BPS and registered with the HCPC. I am also a certified EMDR UK practitioner, and currently undergoing accreditation in both EMDR and Schema Therapy. At present, I split my work as a senior psychologist in a specialist psychotherapy NHS service and running a small private practice offering online therapy to adults.
With over 12 years of experience working within mental health across NHS, university and private sectors, I have supported diverse individuals across the spectrum of common to complex or severe psychological difficulties. In my clinical career, I have worked in a range of settings, including neurodevelopmental CAMHS, university student support, psychiatric inpatient and rehabilitation units, drug and alcohol addiction clinics, primary and secondary care, and private clinics.
For more than 5 years I have developed a clinical speciality in trauma, having worked in specialist complex PTSD and (currently) specialist trauma therapies NHS and private services. I support survivors of single event and multiple traumatic / adverse life experiences to make sense of, process, heal, and grow from trauma. I help individuals who have survived many kinds of distressing experiences, including varying severities of childhood abuse/neglect, domestic abuse, sexual violence, neurodivergent-related adversity, accidents, traumatic grief, birth trauma, racial trauma, medical trauma, workplace trauma (including healthcare workers, police force, military personnel, actors), those who have lived through war and conflict zones, and pre/post-migration experiences of asylum seekers and refugees.
I am experienced in treating a wide range of mental health difficulties — which may or may not stem from trauma — including PTSD, complex PTSD, developmental trauma, intergenerational trauma, dissociative issues, personality disorders, emotion regulation difficulties, anxiety/panic, depression, addiction, family and relational challenges, poor sense of self, low self-esteem, high levels of shame and self-criticism, chronic pain, and psychosexual/psychosomatic problems.
I also am experienced and interested in supporting people who are navigating loss and bereavement, workplace stress and burnout, family and relationship break-ups, stressful transitions, identity conflicts, and new diagnoses or illnesses.
My clinical practice is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed and integrative, meaning I work with my client's whole identity as I draw upon a number of evidence-based therapeutic models from which I am trained / experienced in, including eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), attachment focused EMDR, schema therapy, compassion focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
In our work together, I aim to create a space where you can feel seen, heard, and held as we navigate the things which brought you to therapy, be it new challenges to lifelong patterns and problems. You can expect me to be warm and compassionate, using humour and straight-talking as appropriate, and working collaboratively with you towards your goals and the life you want.
